Bali in Depth, with Lombok & Yogyakarta

This tour includes overnight stays in Lombok and Yogyakarta, along with cultural events and Bali's most important sightseeing attractions.

Day 1 Arrival transfer from the airport to your hotel in Ubud. Five nights accommodations.

Day 2 Today's full day excursion includes a performance of the Barong & Kris dance and visits to Kintamani, Tampaksiring holy spring temple and the temples of Bangli.

Day 3 Today's full day excursion takes you to eastern Bali. You'll visit Karangasem Palace, the fishing village of Kusamba, Bat Cave temple, Tenganan traditional village, Tirta Gangga water garden and an ikat (traditional weaving) factory in Sidemen village. This evening attend a performance of the primitive Kecak dance.

Day 4 Day at leisure to shop, visit a spa or explore Ubud on your own.

Day 5 Morning visit to the Bird Park and Reptile Park. In the afternoon you'll visit a gamelan maker and a dukun (Balinese healer), where you'll learn about healing with traditional methods. In the late afternoon visit Petulu to see the white herons return to roost. In the evening attend a performance of the Legong dance or a shadow puppet performance.

Day 6 Transfer to the north of Bali. Along the way you'll visit a remote mountain village to experience rural life. Stop an a village elementary school before visiting a farmer in the fields, where you can observe or participate in traditional farming. Continue to the village compound for a lesson in how to make a temple offering and a woven bamboo hat. You'll then see a demonstration, have a short lesson, and participate in playing the instruments of the village gamelan orchestra. Lunch is included in the village compound. Before arriving at your hotel, a stop will be made at Pulaki monkey temple. Two nights accommodations in Pemuteran.

Day 7 Morning snorkel excursion to Menjangan Island including equipment, private boat and lunch. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 8 Transfer to your beach resort following a visit the Munduk countryside, an area with spectacular terraced rice fields. You'll visit the spice, fruit and flower market at Candi Kuning, Lake Beratan with Ulun Danu Temple and Munduk Waterfall where you'll take a short hike to reach the falls. In Munduk village you'll have a cooking lesson at Puri Lumbung, a small hotel that overlooks the terraced rice fields. Four nights accommodations at Canggu Beach, Seminyak Beach or Sanur Beach.

Day 9 Day at leisure to enjoy the beach.

Day 10 This morning you'll visit the Kumbasari & Badung traditional market in Denpasar. This is where the locals shop. There are flowers, spices, vegetables, homewares, clothing, fabrics for sale. You can also visit the gold shops. Continue to Royal Temple Taman Ayun, Alas Kedaton holy monkey forest and Tanah Lot sea temple. Return to your hotel in the mid-afternoon at leisure.

Day 11 Day at leisure to enjoy the beach.

Day 12 Early morning transfer to the Bali airport. Upon arrival in Yogyakarta you'll be met and taken on a city tour that includes the Sultan's Palace, Water Castle, a wayang gallery and batik home industry. Continue to Prambanan. You'll visit Sambisari, Kalasan, Sari, Plaosan and Banyunibo temples, and the ruined palace of Ratu Boko. One night accommodation in Yogyakarta.

Day 13 Very early this morning you'll depart your hotel for Borobudur, the world's largest Buddhist temple complex. Arrive in time to see the sunrise. Continue to Mendut and Pawon temples, before transferring to the Yogyakarta airport. Upon arrival in Lombok you'll be met and transferred to your hotel. Three nights accommodations in Lombok.

Day 14 Day at leisure to enjoy the beach.

Day 15 Today's full day Gili Islands tour starts with a boat ride to Gili Trawangan, best known for its excellent shallow water reef snorkeling. Continue to the blue coral island of Gili Meno. The last stop is Gili Air, which also has excellent snorkeling, as well as an interesting fishing settlement.

Day 16 Transfer to airport following a tour of Mayura, the royal floating palace of the former kingdom; Pura Meru temple; Bertais market (the largest in Lombok); Narmada, the summer palace of the former King Anak Agung Gede Ngurah; and Lingsar temple (the oldest temple in Lombok) which is used as a place of worship by both Hindus and Moslems.
